We’re teaming up with the Glasgow Charity Fashion Show (GCFS) — Glasgow’s largest student ran fundraiser and creative fashion project, which has raised over £300,000 since 2014 for charities including Refuweegee, Impact Arts and Children’s Hospices Across Scotland. All profits from this event will go to the GCFS 2025 charity partner, to be announced soon via their Instagram @_gcfs_
This night also marks the beginning of the GCFS campaign and will be a night to celebrate the start of a busy year of fundraising, fashion and student creativity. The launch at The Berkeley Suite brings together student DJ talent, student creatives, and sets from McCart, Orla Halligan, DRUMA, Ocean & NIHASA. Not only this, the 16th marks the start of the new Varsity Series by the Glasgow Electronic Music Society (GEMS), formerly GUEMS.
GEMS is a student-run community at the University of Glasgow that has long provided a platform for DJs, producers and music lovers to connect and grow. Through open decks, workshops, and collaborative projects, we’ve helped many young DJs take their first steps into Glasgow’s electronic music scene.
The Varsity Series continues that tradition by showcasing the full pathway GEMS offers; from first experiments in mixing at workshops, to performing at open decks, and ultimately stepping up to the booth in one of the city’s most respected venues. By carrying forward this progression, GEMS remains committed to championing student-led culture and shaping the next generation of Glasgow talent. This is a chance to get to know GEMS, support GCFS’s mission, and dance with a difference.
