
One of the most enigmatic and intriguing artists to emerge out of the early dubstep days with his Skull Disco imprint, Shackleton has forged his own path, releasing a breadth of intricate and immersive music steeped in layers, exploring the more experimental, thoughtful and psychedelic realms on the fringes of bass music. Releasing 10 records from 2005-2008, Shackleton & Appleblim’s Skull Disco remains compelling to this day. Eschewing many of dubstep’s tropes, Skull Disco presented a brooding sound, taking inspiration from more global sources, full of introspection and experimentation, with intricate and delicate percussion. Leaving the UK after the label ceased, he released his debut album, a dark and dubby affair on Perlon that saw his sound develop in new channels. Since those earlier days, he’s collaborated across the globe, bringing his unique percussive work and mastery of space to create truly amazing music for both the club and the post-party gatherings. A relatively recent solo album, “Singular Time” channeled his disparate talents into a singular vessel.
